Video on Google Maps

•July 16, 2008 • Leave a Comment

I’ve been spending a lot of time on Google Maps lately, and really paying attention to some of the features they offer on local search.  I like the use of photos when searching places I haven’t visited, but I am still having trouble making sense of some of the videos used on the maps from YouTube.  Some seem relevant, but the majority of the videos don’t add any value from a local search perspective.  I assume most of the videos appear on the map because the YouTuber who posted them was from the location searched on, or they used the city name as a tag.  Either way, the implementation of this seems premature.  Do a local search yourself and see what you come up with.  Look forward to hearing your feedback.

Geotagging for Local SEO

I haven’t implemented this on my sites yet, but looks like a good way to define your location to search engine crawlers.  Has anyone seen results from impelenting GeoTagging in their meta tags?
